Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard End-to-End
Demonstration |
|
|
Objectives:
This hands-on lab provides an end-to-end demonstration of
Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2011 Standard which includes
the following areas:
- Adding a user account
- Connecting the user’s PC
to the SBS environment
- Managing the user’s PC to
ensure its health and security
- Protecting the server and
PC’s data
- Adding server storage
capacity
- Using Remote Web Access
Scenario: Contoso is a growing small business
with seven employees. They run Windows 7 Professional on their
client computers and have deployed a Windows Small Business
Server (SBS) 2011 Standard server to assist with centralization
of data storage and management tasks, improved data protection,
robust messaging and collaboration, and remote access. Contoso
has recently hired a new employee, Jeff Phillips. Jeff comes to
the organization with his own laptop, and while he is happy to
join his laptop to the network, he does not want to lose any
data or personal settings. The administrator for Contoso’s
network, Roland Winkler, needs to ensure the company’s data is
protected and that there is adequate storage space available. To
do this, he wants to ensure Jeff’s data is stored on the SBS
server by using folder redirection and also to make sure the
server’s backup configuration is set up. Roland also needs to
add new storage capacity to the server and move some of the data
to the new hard drive. Finally, Jeff Phillips needs to be able
to work remotely, so we’ll walk him through the process of using
Remote Web Access, which will allow him to access e-mail, the
Contoso intranet site, shared folders on the server, and even
connect to computers in the SBS environment.
